Local culinary leaders let loose at Great Australian Bites

Local culinary leaders let loose at Great Australian Bites

From January 23–26, several of South Bank’s best eateries will be celebrating Australia day by showcasing great Queensland produce alongside a program of activities.

The traditional Australian barbecue is one of the most popular ways to celebrate Australia Day, but South Bank Parklands are offering an option for those looking to take in a bit more of what Queensland has to offer when it comes to produce. Great Australian Bites is an event that takes place over four days and nights, taking advantage of the summer weather and hosting a range of events at River Quay. In addition to the Brisbane events, Great Australia Bites will also be hosted in Airlie Beach and Port Douglas for the first time.

The live program includes performances from local musicians, such as Banff, Good Oak, Karl S Williams, Sahara Beck and Bobby Alu. River Quay restaurants such as Aquitaine Brasserie, Cove Bar & Dining, Popolo and The Jetty will offer a range of variety of taster plates and special dishes to celebrate the day and some will also host a plethora of pop-up food stalls with meals prepared by local chefs. The Australia Day celebrations will be capped off with a fireworks display over the Brisbane city skyline at 7:30 pm on Tuesday January 26.
