Sink your teeth into homegrown tastes and talent at Great Australian Bites
Here in the great southern land, we have a lot to be thankful for. The weather is primo (heatwaves notwithstanding), the scenery is sublime, the food is fresh and we have some very talented entertainers in our midst. Bringing together all of these elements is Great Australian Bites, a three-day celebration over the January 26–28 Australia Day long weekend showcasing the best that Brisbane has to offer.
Great Australian Bites is all about the local vibe, focusing on food and entertainment found within the Queensland borders. For three days, the stunning surrounds of South Bank Parkland’s River Quay will further flourish in a display of community spirit. Local restaurants from the River Quay precinct such as Aquitaine Brasserie, The Jetty, River Quay Fish and Popolo will use Queensland produce to create a range of taster plates, picnic baskets and seasonal drinks in fun pop-up food stalls.
It wouldn’t be a party without a little bit of music, and Great Australian Bites delivers the goods. Taking to the stage over the course of the three days is a host of unique talent that is as diverse as it is entertaining. One of the biggest names appearing is Phil Jamieson, a gent who may sound familiar from his work in a little rock band named Grinspoon. Joining the line-up is psychedelic chiller Dan Kelly along with Ben Ely of Regurgitator fame. For an extra dose of festive pride, Great Australian Bites provides a killer vantage point for the Australia Day fireworks spectacular on Thursday January 26.
If this has got you salivating, be sure to swing by River Quay for Great Australian Bites from January 26–28.
