GOMA Talks

Join in the debate with the return of GOMA Talks

Some people say that there are a handful of topics that shouldn’t be discussed at any dinner party if you wish it to remain polite. From religion to money and politics, taboo topics have a way of ruffling feathers and generating a heated debate that doesn’t partner well with dessert. Keep your opinions instead for the educated discussions of GOMA Talks.

A chance to discuss some of Australia’s most relevant (and often most heated) topics, GOMA Talks welcomes all opinions to the one classroom. The debate series curates a panel of experienced and educated members who have plenty of knowledge on the subject at hand and encourage interaction with the audience.

This season of GOMA Talks will be held in conjunction with the APT7 exhibition and ABC Radio National, and will aptly explore Australia’s place in the so-called Asian Century. Four free events will be held (one a fortnight) with no bookings required, meaning you can wander in, listen, learn and talk at your whim. The series will make its return for 2013 on Thursday February 21, with Big Ideas host Paul Barclay at the helm of a group of guests including Andrew O’Neill, George Megalogenis, Jason Yat-sen Li and Anita Lee Hong. This first panel will discuss ‘Australia in the Asian Century’. Full details of upcoming discussions can also be found online.
