Taste-testing exotic eats, out-of-the-ordinary activities and learning about different cultures are some of our favourite parts of travelling. With globe-trotting adventures off the cards (for now), we’re looking to get our fix of cultural goodness right here at home – and this might be easier than you think thanks to Global Fiesta by Regional Flavours. Taking over South Bank Parklands from October 16–17, the second event in the three-part Regional Flavours food-and-wine series will spotlight the city’s rich multicultural diversity through world-class fare, top-notch entertainment and some of the best culinary whizzes our state has to offer. Here is a taste of what each stage at this jam-packed event will have on offer …

Destination Stage
Get ready to stamp your foodie passport, wanderlust-stricken friends, as you’re about to travel through some seriously delicious happenings at Global Fiesta by Regional Flavours. Kick off your journey into far-flung destinations with a stroll through The Marketplace, where you can snap up killer cuisine originating from countries afar. When your tastebuds have been warmed up, make your way to the Destination Stage, where you can take in acts like a traditional Aboriginal cultural performance from the Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dance Company, enjoy classical and folk Arabic music courtesy of Shanasheel, or be transported to New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street with some live jazz.

World Stage
Dangerously delicious bites meet delightful entertainment at the World Stage, where eager gastronomers can get up close and personal with some celebrity chefs. There will be appearances from Louis Tikaram, Josh Lopez, Peter Kuruvita, Aunty Dale Chapman and more, who will tantalise tastebuds with tutorials that will show event goers how to turn an ordinary meal into a phenomenal one. If your senses haven’t been sent into overdrive yet, then just wait – there will also be Scottish folk music filling the air, Argentinian tango dancers, African Beat providing plenty of groove-worthy rhythms and even some Celtic music to seduce ears throughout the evening.

Departure Lounge
Just like the world keeps on spinning, this continent-spanning celebration continues to dole out the sizzling entertainment. Keep soaking up the riverfront views and stellar vibes at the Departure Lounge at River Quay, where an electric mix of DJs will hit the decks and transport you to party islands across the sea. The fun doesn’t stop there, as roving performers will continue to light up the culinary weekend. Think traditional Chinese lion dances, Japanese drumming, Italian piano-accordion players, Cuban dancers and much, much more. As they say, the world is your oyster – and this has never been truer than at Global Fiesta.
