Get yourself some bling at the Gem and Jewellery Festival

Each year rockhounds and mineral collectors, lapidary hobbyists (gem and rock cutters) as well as fashionistas come together for one big bling fest.

The Gem and Jewellery Festival, held at the Bracken Ridge State High School on March 5–6 has exhibitors featuring rough gemstones, faceted stones, cabochons of gemstones and opal, jewellery, fossils, mineral specimens as well as lapidary tools and equipment. There will be gemstones galore including sapphires in a wide range of colours, rubies, emeralds, tanzanite, beryl, chrysoprase and opal.

For those with an interest in the metaphysical there will be crystals as well as a variety of fossils for the avid collector. There are also demonstrations of faceting by members of the Australian Faceting Guild and dealers selling tools, consumables and machinery to help you turn rocks into gems.
