Soothe your body, mind and spirit with yoga at Gap Farmers' Market

Soothe your body, mind and spirit with yoga at Gap Farmers’ Market

The Gap Farmers’ Market is all about bringing the community together to celebrate and support local farmers and producers – but if yoga and live music take your fancy, then they’re on offer too.

Each fortnight on a Sunday when The Gap Farmers’ Market sees farmers, producers and artisans from far and wide set up market tables, the community of west Brisbane comes together. Not only is it all about the food, but each market sees live music and yoga bring a unique touch to this carefully curated market.

Each market day, Laura Luck from The Accidental Yogi holds a calming yoga session from 9:30–10:15 am amongst the trees. Set a little away from the hustle and bustle of the market to induce the calm required, participants can just turn up with a mat and $10 so that they can incorporate the practice of yoga into their market experience. After, the fruits and vegetables of Southeast Queensland are ripe and ready at the market, perfect for you to collect, go home and whip up a green juice or smoothie.

If yoga isn’t your chosen method for relaxation, then pull up a bale of hay and sit back and enjoy this weekend’s entertainment. Music by Aaron and Mark, a father-and-son duo with vocals accompanied by guitar and electric upright double bass. Inspired by the likes of Bon Iver, Xavier Rudd, Eric Bibb, Bruce Cockburn and Eddie Vedder, the pair mixes it up with radio hits, rollicking kids music and instrumentals. The kids can even join in and play along with bongos, tambourines and shakers.
