Bacon beers and world records – Australia’s biggest craft-beer festival is back for another year
Australia’s biggest craft-beer festival is returning to Brisbane on Saturday June 14 and 15, treating our frothy friends to the best and most innovative brews from around the world. GABS will once again be transforming Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre into its self-proclaimed Disneyland of beer. Here’s what you need to know …
First held in 2011, Great Australian Beer Festival has quickly become a milestone on any beer buff’s calendar. The multi-city froth-fest mixes festival fun with a line-up of the world’s best brewers for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Once again, GABS has curated 120 never-before-seen beers, brewed exclusively for the event attendees to sip and sample. Discover delicious and devilish creations like s’mores beer, sushi beer, spaghetti beer, banana blueberry pancake smoothie beer, cereal beer, bacon beer and many more. These curious creations are best experienced in paddles of five tasters at a time, so leave your keys at home and come ready to immerse yourself in the wonderful world of beer.
This year, GABS has scored the world’s oldest brewery Weihenstephan. The Bavaria-born brewery has been slinging beers for nearly 1000 years, and is set to be pouring up its historic creations across the two days. On Friday night, GABS is celebrating the industry’s women and non-binary individuals in collaboration with the Pink Boots Society with The Pink Party. During the festivals, GABS has set its sights on a world record with a special event in partnership with Stomping Ground Brewing Co. Join 1400 attendees at a curated beer tasting session and set the world record for a tasting event.
While GABS is first and foremost all about the froths, the festival also offers a feast of salvation-worthy street food, roving entertainment, fun games, eating competitions, a silent disco and more. Plus, you’ll also receive a Beer Safari booklet with tickets, entitling you to $250 worth of post-festival drinks across some of the most celebrated local venues.
