QAGOMA’s Future Collective Revel is the arty party of your dreams

Any Brisbane local who is trying to impress someone from interstate or overseas will almost always bring up two things – the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art. This writer is definitely guilty of humble-bragging to mates across the border about our world class, kickass cultural jewels (I am not sorry and I will never apologise). One of the key factors to QAGOMA’s success – apart from the amazing staff – is the Future Collective, a group of benevolent young guns that throw their financial support behind the galleries. Once a year they throw a party to end all parties in the name of raising dosh for art – prepare yourself for Future Collective Revel.

Tying in directly with the organisation for which it is named, Future Collective Revel is part-celebration and part-fundraiser. All year, members of the Collective provide philanthropic support to the QAGOMA Foundation – donations are pooled together in one fund to support a special project decided upon by the Collective itself. One of the major events for the year is Revel, a party where all proceeds raised on the night go towards supporting the development of the galleries through the foundation. It’s pretty much the perfect opportunity to get behind the Brisbane arts scene and have a bunch of fun at the same time.

So what does a ticket to one of the coolest soirees on the social calendar get you? For a start, patrons get exclusive after-hours access to the deservedly hyped Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe exhibition – if you haven’t seen it yet (or even if you have) this is the perfect chance to get an up-close-and-personal look at some of the rad art, props and costumes from one of the most successful franchises in the world. A special cocktail on arrival and drinks throughout the night will keep the vibes sky high, and appetites will be whet with mouth-watering morsels from created by Josue Lopez, the award-winning Executive Chef at the helm of GOMA Restaurant. Further upping the Bris-cool factor is a live performance from The Creases, followed by Ben Ely (of Regurgitator fame) spinning tunes for a DJ set.

If you’re keen to party for a purpose, you can nab tickets to Future Collective Revel through Eventbrite.
