Some of Australia’s best musical talent team up for From Brissy, With Love – A Fire Relief Benefit
The current Australian bushfire crisis is undoubtedly one of the most catastrophic disasters to strike our country in recent memory. As the fires continue to ravage communities and natural resources, the nation has responded with a heartening outpouring of support, donating generously to organisations combating the fires directly, nurturing our wildlife and lending assistance to those displaced. The Weekend Edition is keen to do its part, so we’ve teamed up with our friends at The Triffid and a cadre of Australia’s best musical acts to host a fundraising event on Sunday January 19, the proceeds of which will be donated in full to fire-relief charities.
Although bushfire smoke has clouded the first days of 2020, a silver lining has emerged thanks to the generosity of many. Businesses are donating portions of sales to fire-relief efforts, and events and initiatives are being announced every day, each with the intention of contributing to the fundraising effort or supporting affected businesses. Beloved live-music venue The Triffid is one such venue bringing together the community for a Sunday session of song, hosting From Brissy, With Love – A Fire Relief Benefit on Sunday January 19. The crew has assembled a line-up of all-star musical performers for the event, featuring Alex The Astronaut, Thelma Plum, Kira Puru, The Grates and Tia Gostelow. The beer garden will open from 2:00 pm with tunes provided by Mojo Webb, while at 6:00 pm official event MC Mel Buttle will kick off the evening’s musical showcase.
The Weekend Edition is proud to team up with our pals at The Triffid to help host a fundraising raffle and events on the day, with a collection of incredible prizes up for grabs to those that purchase tickets on site. While we’re keeping exact prize details under wraps for now, we can confirm that included in the prize pool is an electric guitar signed by the artists, merch packs and some covetable food-related goodies.
