Flickerfest 2014 strikes Brisbane’s big screens

The 23rd Flickerfest International Short Film Festival 2014 has hit the road. A brilliant line-up of films will be putting Brisbane bums on seats from Thursday February 27 to Saturday March 1.

The act of settling in to a theatre seat, turning off your mobile, shovelling your hand into movie treats and plunging into a foreign world for two hours is an indulgence most of us don’t enjoy nearly enough. If you find that time pressures tend to keep you from long, leisurely evenings at the cinema, maybe a short film festival is more your style. The 23rd Flickerfest International Short Film Festival 2014 recently kicked off on its annual national tour and is due to roll in to Brisbane for three entertaining days at the end of the month.

As Australia’s only Academy- and BAFTA-recognised short film festival, Flickerfest enjoyed a welcome reception at Bondi Beach in January before it embarked on a national tour, stopping off at more than 45 venues around the country over the five months to May. Fortitude Valley’s Judith Wright Centre will be the festival’s local host, offering the Best of Australian Shorts on Thursday February 27 and the Best of International over Friday February 28 and Saturday March 1. Nab your tickets online and stay in the loop via Flickerfest’s Facebook page.
