Fish Lane Festival brings lion’s head meatballs and charcuterie bento to the party
Long gone are the days when South Brisbane’s Fish Lane was written off as a dark and drab industrial lot. Time, innovation and a heck of a lot of hard work have seen the precinct go through a full swan-like transformation on us, becoming one of Brisbane’s favourite foodie hotspots and cultural hubs. Celebrating this renaissance for the second year running is Fish Lane Festival, bringing together the best food, music and art on Saturday May 13 for a party you won’t soon forget.
As well as existing partners The Fox Hotel and Aria, Fish Lane Festival has welcomed a new name on board for this year’s party. The brains at Colonial Brewing Co are now a core part of the festival team, helping to curate the amazing food offering that combines the new kids on the block with Fish Lane’s OG stores. Come with an empty stomach – the Fox Hotel’s pop-ups will be serving fluffy bao and charcuterie bento boxes, you can nab a Greek fusion meze platter from Five Sisters or devour juicy burgs from Billykart. The Melbourne Residences crew is also going all out, with Middle Eastern delights from Naïm, a one-of-a-kind brownie-fuelled creation from Gelato Messina and lion’s head meatball and potato bread brisket sandwiches (!!!) from Chu the Phat just to name a few.
Thirsty punters are more than catered for with the Bertie Cider Garden, Sofi Spritz Mobil, Tanqueray Gin Jungle and Ketel One Espresso Martini Bar all popping up to offer a wide range of refreshing libations. It wouldn’t be a party without some sweet tuneage, and Fish Lane Festival definitely delivers on this front – some of Brisbane’s best homegrown funk, soul, jazz and blues talent will be performing live and free across three stages. The day will start chill with sweet sets from Ella Haber and Tiana Khasi, with things getting a little more dance-vibe as the sun goes down with Dave Orr Band and Kerbside Collection. If you take a stroll around the precinct to help burn off your burgeoning food baby, your eyes will also be treated to the brand-new Fish Art development – it’s a moveable feast!
If this sounds like your kind of party, save the date for Fish Lane Festival on Saturday May 13 from 12:00–10:00 pm. Entry to the festival is free, and to keep up with other exciting news you can check out the official Facebook page.
