APT7

Visit GOMA to farewell the final weeks of APT7

The 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT7) is a resplendent celebration of the arts from around the Asia Pacific region. Having found itself a home at GOMA and the adjoining Queensland Art Gallery for the past few months, the colourful exhibition has just reached its final weeks of display, drawing to a close on the impending date of April 14.

The only exhibition to focus exclusively on contemporary creations from Asia, the Pacific and Australia, APT7 is one of the most celebrated (and anticipated) art events in Queensland. The exhibition is strewn throughout GOMA and spills into its neighbouring gallery, filling each cavernous space with a huge breadth of artworks from all over the southern hemisphere.

This year’s exhibition hosted works from 75 artists from 27 different nations, reflecting on a range of different subjects. You’ll see pieces from Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Australia and and Cambodia amongst others. The next few weeks will be your last chance to enjoy the spectacle of creativity from around Asia, as well as indulge in a little playtime at the interactive children’s area.

The accompanying GOMA Up Late musical forays will also be coming to a close, with the final event held on April 12. From 5:30–9:30 pm, the crowd will be wowed by the music of duo, Canyons. The gents will perform an original musical score featuring a three-panel video installation by APT7 artist Daniel Boyd. GOMA Talks has just two more sessions remaining – the interactive panel discussion series will be held on Thursday March 21 (talking Living Contemporary Culture) and April 4 (discussing Policy Politics).
