Explore the rainbow at C Gallery, New Farm
From chartreuse to anthracite, the colour wheel contains a myriad of shades that go well beyond simple red, yellow and blue. Each of these is thought to contain the power to alter mood, a theme that has been explored by artist Dave Behren in his exhibition The Colour Within.
For the collection David has used his skills as a painter to explore dream-like states and reality, as well as the power and energy that arises from colour. His paintings portray a rainbow of colours amongst latticed and patterned pieces. Symbols also abound, reflecting his interest in ancient cultures, specifically that of Egypt.
From March 29 to April 5, David will display his works at C Gallery, the latest addition to James Street. This new art space specialises in hand-blown Australian glassware, paintings, ceramics, sculpture and handcrafted jewellery. Nothing is commercially produced – instead the gallery focuses on unique artworks.
