As part of the Brisbane Festival’s Theatre Republic showcase, the QUT Creative Industries Precinct will also be exhibition Experimenta Recharge: 6th International Biennial of Media Art.

Looking at the role media art plays in the creation of stories, Experimenta Recharge: 6th International Biennial of Media Art shows off the work of artists that use contemporary tools to retell stories. From August 25 to September 26, Experimenta Recharge will take over The Block at the QUT Creative Industries Precinct to exhibit 18 works from Australian and international artists, five of whom will be showing their work in Australia for the first time. The exhibition includes work from a variety of mediums, drawing from photography, sculpture, installation, sound art, robotics and gaming.

The artists showcasing works include Brisbane-based artists Svenja Kratz and Christy Dena. Svenja’s work investigates biotechnologies using installation art, while Christy is a gaming artist who investigates the cultural phenomena of escape rooms in her interactive works. Other artists include Jesse Stevens and Dean Petersen, Maree Clarke, German sound art collective Korinsky and Brazillian artist Anaisa Franco. The opening night of Experimenta Recharge will also boast a live music performance from Michelle Xen + The Neon Wild at the QUT Parade Ground from 5:00 pm. Be sure to head to the QUT Creative Industries Precinct website for more information on exhibiting artists.
