Experience German culture at the Audi Festival of German Films

Anyone who has spent time meandering the streets of Berlin, exploring underground bars and pondering community art on the streets, will be familiar with the creative energy that grips the German capital.

Visiting Brisbane from April 19–25, the Audi Festival of German Films showcases a slice of German culture and creativity. Now in its 11th year, the festival features 16 examples of contemporary German cinema, ranging from feature films to powerful documentaries.

The dramatic coming-of-age tale of a young actress, Cracks in the Shell, opens the festival, and other highlights include Mahler on the Couch, a semi-factual recount of the relationship between composer Gustav Mahler and Sigmund Freud, and Three, which follows a couple at a crossroads after 20 years of marriage.

Festivities commence tonight at Palace Centro Cinemas in Fortitude Valley.
