Flips and fermatas – the Brandenburg and Circa team up for their next thrilling continental collaboration
When you’re on to a winning combination, it pays to keep the ball rolling – case in point with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Circa. Each of these entities is a leader in their respective scenes, gaining the highest praise across the worlds of music and movement. Following their first Helpmann Award-winning offering and second sold-out creation, the two powerhouses are joining forces once again to bring magic to the stage. For one night only on Tuesday May 21, English Baroque with Circa will set the QPAC Concert Hall alight with an explosion of sound, colour and synergy.
English Baroque with Circa is the latest daring outfit from the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Circa, combining the expertise of each organisation to create a brand-new fusion of creativity. The unbeatable team of Artistic Directors Paul Dyer and Yaron Lifschitz (from Brandenburg and Circa respectively) have created an inspired pasticcio with music carefully selected from 16th and 17th century England. Add the unbelievable voice of soprano Jane Sheldon, the incomparable moves of the Circa troupe and the seamless precision of the Brandenburg, and the result is pure perfection.
As previously touched on, English Baroque with Circa certainly isn’t the first time that the Brandenburg and Circa have linked up. Back in 2015, audiences were seduced by the heavenly French Baroque, which combined beauty and elegance to create a truly stunning work – not to mention the show also picked up a Helpmann Award. Fast-forward to 2017 and the duo struck gold again with Spanish Baroque, a fiery and high-intensity show that garnered sell-out performances across its season. If this previous output is anything to go by, this is one show you won’t want to sleep on.
