East Journey and Slip-on Stereo fuse modern and traditional music

Fusing contemporary and traditional music, East Journey and Slip-on Stereo share language, culture and country through music, song and dance. East Journey, a young aboriginal band from North East Arnhem Land and Brisbane-based band Slip-on Stereo, come together to perform a double bill at the Queensland Multicultural Centre next Tuesday. Both bands have been making waves in Australia’s musical community after successful tours around the country. Combining rock and acoustic sounds with the more traditional didgeridoo and clap sticks, East Journey’s performance forms a vibrant and fresh direction for Australian indigenous music. The summer sounds of Slip-on Stereo blends funk, R&B and reggae, with a gospel-inspired vocals woven into the mix.

@ Queensland Multicultural Centre, November 13.
