Takeaway Thai feasts, cellar door tastings and whisky dinners – soak up the rest of summer at Eagle Street Pier

We’re nearing the end of summer, folks, and we are sad to see the silly season go. Before summer winds up, waterfront entertainment and dining destination Eagle Street Pier is squeezing out all of the season’s goodness like a ripe orange. Not quite ready to farewell balmy nights spent feasting, imbibing riverside cocktails and catching up with friends? Here’s how to spend the final weeks of February living it up by the river’s edge …

With mere weeks to go before summer wraps up, now is the perfect time to gather your nearest and dearest for some riverside feasting, frolicking and good ol’ fashioned fun at Eagle Street Pier. Start off with some dynamite eats at tantalising locale Naga Thai, where you can indulge in a Sunday sesh full of tastebud-tempting fare like massaman beef milk buns, five-spice duck noodle rolls, tiger prawns with green mung bean noodles, and banana fritters served with salted caramel and roast coconut ice-cream. The best part is you get all of this – and more – for just $49 (the banquet is usually $69, so you’re saving some sweet dosh here!). If you feel like staying in, fret not, as you can now get NAGA’s delicious eats takeaway on certain days. For more bargain bites, head to Mr & Mrs G Riverbar, where you can enjoy a delicious prawn and bug roll with shoestring fries and a glass of Veuve for only $30 per person from Wednesday to Sunday. To level up your sea-caught snack, upgrade to a cheeky bottle of Veuve Clicquot for $145.

Got a gang of mates that are keen for some icy-cold beers and German bites? Head to The Bavarian and tuck into a three-course share-style meal brimming with warm pretzels, crunchy noodle salad, chicken schnitzel served with mushroom sauce and fries, and apple strudel with cinnamon, walnuts and vanilla ice-cream. Plus, this deal includes a two-hour drinks package of bottomless select tap beer, cocktails and wine for $79 per person. More delicious drops are in abundance at City Winery Cellar Door Eagle Street, where grape-juice lovers can get worldly knowledge of wine in a cellar-door tasting. These whistle-wetting – and most importantly, educational – sessions see winers and diners taste a splash or two direct from the barrel followed by a two-course shared dining experience paired with wines. Another truly special sipping experience awaits at Fatcow Steak & Lobster, which is hosting a Glenmorangie four-course dinner on Wednesday February 23. The lavish evening will see each dish, including the likes of rock-lobster cannelloni, pistachio-crumbed duck breast with smoked celeriac puree and a 300-g rib fillet with wagyu fat potatoes, carefully paired with a whisky tipple.
