TWE The Weekend Edition birthday

Discover what’s new on The Weekend Edition

When the month of March rolls around, we get mighty excited because it’s our birthday month! We launched our very first issue of The Weekend Edition on Thursday March 8 in 2012, and it’s been such an incredible journey so far. We’ve not only seen our own team grow, but we have also watched and been a part of documenting how our city has grown and become a winsome tapestry rich with food lovers, artisans and changemakers that better Brisbane with each new day and new idea.

We’re all grown up. So for our second birthday, we wanted to primp up a little – shave off a few unnecessary pounds and tidy up our locks. We’ve made a few tweaks to how the site runs and added some exciting new sections that we hope you’ll love.

Firstly, the overall site has been optimised for greater-resolution screens, meaning we can better present the great imagery of our new section The Edibles and current favourite The Street Photographer. The Edibles is a new photographic feature – similar to how we document spaces on The Street Photographer, but drawing focus to the sumptuous dishes being plated up around town and the ingredients and methods that go into making them.

We’d also like to introduce you to the The Daily Brief – bite-sized pieces of daily pop culture news to ensure you are kept up to date with what is happening in Brisbane. Make sure you follow us on Twitter @_dailybrief, keep an eye on the top banner above our masthead, or click straight through to it here.

You can now find our weekly dose of Culture articles tucked under Event News, while The Interview has been renamed The Locals to better reflect the cohort of local talent we feature each week. We’ve also drawn our Design section out of the shadows, featuring new articles each week across architecture, interiors and product design.

Also in exciting news for mobile readers, our Events Guide and Stumble Guide have now been optimised for mobile viewing. You can also search for events, or cafes and bars, using a map. The map can find your current location, or you can drop the pin in an area you would like to search. You will then be directed to results for what is happening around you, up to a 4 km radius (which you can also adjust).

And next week we can’t wait to introduce you to The Conversationalist, a format that delivers 4–5 minute video interviews with the inspiring changemakers of Brisbane.

We hope you enjoy the new sections on The Weekend Edition and look forward to inspiring you for many weekends to come – and not to mention the odd daily brief!

Sleep In. Slow Down. Enjoy!
