Posh picnic Le Dîner en Blanc Brisbane returns for fifth instalment

It’s a pop-up dining phenomenon that’s elegance is only exceeded by its mystery – Le Dîner en Blanc Brisbane returns in 2016 for the fifth time and promises feasting, dancing and a famous all-white dress code. The Weekend Edition is thrilled to be a media partner for Le Dîner en Blanc again in 2016 and to announce the date of the next rendezvous!

The concept dates back to Paris in 1988 when François Pasquier and a handful of friends arranged to meet at the Bois de Boulogne, dressed in white so they could all find each other amongst the people of the Parisian outskirts. Since then, Le Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide epicurean phenomenon. Starting small as a word-of-mouth only event, Le Dîner en Blanc has grown into an international sensation celebrated on five continents. While the technology behind the event may have evolved over the years, the principles remain unchanged – guests continue to gather at a secret spot for the sole purpose of sharing a gourmet meal with good friends in one of their city’s most striking public spaces.

Come Saturday October 22, guests kitted out in all white everything will gather at a surprise public location in Brisbane for the city’s fifth annual edition of Le Dîner en Blanc. Last year’s instalment saw 2000 people take over the picturesque Queens Park for a night of gourmet eats, live music, dancing and merriment. More than 3000 partygoers are awaited this year at a new top-secret location.

Le Dîner en Blanc Brisbane invites diners to set the scene accordingly, with guests bringing their own tables and chairs, fine china, silverware and decorations to create a white-hued wonderland fit for elegant wining and dining. Patrons can BYO fancy feast or opt for food partner Cuisine on Cue to prepare a decadent hamper for them. Wine and champagne can be pre-purchased from local Sirromet Wines, which will be available for collection on the night.

Registrations are now open to join the waiting list in order to be amongst the lucky locals to secure tickets – last year’s event sold out in a flash. You can subscribe to The Weekend Edition to stay in the loop with further updates, as well as an exciting Le Dîner en Blanc Brisbane competition coming soon!
