Dîner en Blanc gets revellers in party mode

The time is almost here for hundreds of white-clad revellers to descend on a secret location for a night of magical mayhem.

Dîner en Blanc was originally started as a way for locals to take full advantage of their city’s public spaces by taking over one random location a year for a party of epic proportions. With events taking place all over the world, Dîner en Blanc is a widely celebrated event thanks to it’s several unique elements. Firstly, all attendees must wear white if they wish to participate in the festivities. Second, the location of the yearly event is kept secret until the day of the event, when patrons are driven to the destination. Third, attendees must bring food, fine china, silverware and furniture of their own to and from the party location, ensuring that Dîner en Blanc remains a non-impactful pop-up event.

Every year the night includes a series of rituals and live entertainment to complement the evenings dining proceedings. This year, patrons can take a load off by ordering hampers ahead of time, boasting sliced meats, cheeses, breads more substantial fare while Sirromet will be providing the wine. As for the all-white garb, imagination is key – thankfully there are plenty of options if you know where to look. Unfortunately bookings for Dîner en Blanc are now closed, but check The Weekend Edition in the coming weeks for a glimpse of what went down.
