Tasmania’s Dark Mofo festival is returning so it’s time to book some flights y’all

Like most events that were pencilled in for last year, Dark Mofo was cancelled due to COVID restrictions. Resembling a phoenix emerging from the ashes, the midwinter solstice festival will return to Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Tasmania from June 16–22.

Pack your winter woolies, festival-loving folks – Tasmania’s much-loved annual music and arts festival, Dark Mofo, is making its much anticipated return. This year, the festival will look a bit different. Firstly, it will run for just one short – and very sweet – week in June. The event has also dropped all sponsorship activations, allowing organisers to create a program of events with a renewed commitment to the arts.

In the wake of the announcement, organisers have stated that the festival’s future beyond 2021 “isn’t clear or guaranteed”. If that isn’t enough of a reason to pop down to our favourite island state, we don’t know what is.

Dark Mofo’s full event program will be announced in April so keep your eyes peeled
