Local ARI Current Projects launches national exchange project

An exchange project between seven window gallery spaces across Australia, Dispatch is the creation of Brisbane Artist Run Initiative (ARI) Current Projects.

Launched this week, Dispatch will run through to mid-2014, with … to each by Madeleine Preston the first exhibition to grace the Ryan Renshaw Gallery Windowbox in Fortitude Valley. In Dispatch, each participating gallery selects an artist’s artwork to exhibit at another gallery, with each new host gallery selecting a local writer to respond to the nomadic piece. The project aims to explore the challenges of transporting and transmitting works between spaces, with each windowbox producing new variables in lighting, viewer interaction, awkwardness in size and shape.

Participating galleries include Current Projects at Ryan Renshaw Gallery Windowbox in Brisbane, SLOT and Branch3D in Sydney, Propaganda Window and Seventh Gallery’s Workers Window in Melbourne, 24HR Art’s Box Set in Darwin and Newcastle’s Shopfront Gallery. All of the artworks and corresponding writing will come together on the Dispatch website, encouraging public engagement with each new step of the travelling exhibition. … to each is on exchange from Branch3D in Sydney and will show locally until May 29.
