Crowbar

New music venue Crowbar opens in Fortitude Valley

Usually the closing of a small live-music venue in Brisbane brings tears to our eyes and leaves us feeling a tad lost of a Thursday to Sunday night. But in the case of Basement 234 closing on June 1 and reopening as Crowbar, local musos have gained a refreshed venue rather than one scratched entirely.

Located on the bustling train station end of Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley, Crowbar is playing host to all hybrids of rock ‘n’ roll music. Conceived by Trad Nathan, Anthony Aitken and Damien Coward, Crowbar is an artist-friendly music hub, presenting a slew of local, national and international bands.

This weekend, roll in for the haunting melodies and complex rhythms of Melbourne band Gatherer as they tour their debut album, So It Be. Those with a preference for loud and harsh live music and club nights can seek refuge at Crowbar from Thursday to Saturday nights, with the occasional Sunday opening too. The weekly Double Denim club night will feature a regular band line-up, DJs and cheaper drinks each Saturday from 12:00 pm until late.
