Feast your eyes upon the mind-bending Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA
When it comes to pure entertainment value, it’s hard to top a night at the circus. We’re not just talking about your standard ringmaster rigmarole here – Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA is a pure visual feast that sees the iconic company return to traditional form, delivering a show that’s as engaging as it is complex. Coming to Skygate from November 24 2016 through to January 8 2017, KOOZA is one crazy trip that reaffirms Cirque du Soleil’s reputation as the best in the business.
Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA is an homage to the more traditional elements of circus, combining acrobatics and the fine art of clowning to tell its story. Exploring themes of fear, identity, recognition and power, the narrative follows a character known as The Innocent as he takes a journey of self-discovery. Navigating a comic kingdom of eccentric characters and exhilarating thrills, The Innocent is joined by a cast of 50 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors from all around the world. When you add spectacular costumes and an exciting live soundtrack of jazz, funk and Bollywood beats, it becomes the perfect recipe for a signature knockout Cirque du Soleil show.
There are a number of ridiculous stunts and acts that really stand out in the KOOZA roster, from feats of incredible human strength to brain-busting illusions that will have you wondering if what you saw was real. The Double Highwire features two criss-crossing tightropes high above the stage, with super-skilled performers leaping around doing tricks that would be hard enough on solid ground. Another standout is the daunting Wheel of Death – the name says it all, really. The choreography is brilliant, taken next level by intricate costumes and the talents of the cast – watching these bendy humans contort their bodies will make you feel like you need to take an intense yoga class (or several).
If KOOZA sounds like your kind of heaven, there are still some tickets available through Cirque du Soleil.
