The most wonderful time of the year is almost here, which means Brisbane will soon come alive with merry markets, gigantic tinsel-laden trees, colourful light shows and Christmas carols galore! So festive folk know where to go to get their much-needed dose of Santa-sanctioned fun, we’ve rounded up all of the top things happening during Christmas in Brisbane. Christmas in Brisbane will kick off in King George Square with the Lord Mayor’s Lighting of the Christmas Tree presented by The Lott by Golden Casket on Friday December 1 at 6:20 pm. The beloved 22-metre tree will be illuminated once again to a soundtrack of live Christmas classics, including a special performance by Dami Im, and will light up every night after that during the festive season. Brisbane’s top performers will take to Riverstage on Saturday December 2 for the annual Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols. Sing along to your favourite festive jingles and get into the Christmas spirit with a Rudolph-approved roster of top-notch entertainers. The Lott by Golden Casket City Hall Lights will also return with a captivating illuminated display taking place every night from 7:30 pm to midnight from December 8–24. Watch in awe as Brisbane’s iconic City Hall transforms into a lively canvas of fantastical storytelling and merry moments. Throughout December, take a well-deserved break from ticking off your loved one’s wish lists and enjoy some holly-jolly entertainment at Christmas on Queen. Get in the holiday spirit with pop-up performances and roaming acts in Queen Street Mall from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm, and from 4:30–8:00 pm during late-night shopping.

Embark on a very merry scavenger hunt to uncover a number of tiny Christmas-themed doors sprinkled throughout The City. Each whimsical handmade door is a joyous tribute to the holiday season and promises to be a fun, free and festive activity for the entire family. Those seeking some stocking stuffers can get their fill at the BrisStyle Twilight Markets on Friday December 15, where a bevy of handmade treasures from more than 60 local designers await, set against the twinkling backdrop of the gigantic Christmas tree and enchanting City Hall. You can also treat your loved ones to a spectacular selection of one-of-a-kind pressies at the Brisbane Arcade Markets, which will take over Queen Street Mall from December 8–9.
