Cheap Thrills with Judith Wright Centre

Cheap Thrills with Judith Wright Centre

For underage musos, the live music scene in Brisbane can sometimes be a desert when it comes to gigs. Thankfully, like a luscious oasis in the middle of its sandy planes, the Judith Wright Centre has come to the rescue of youngsters all over town. Launching this May will be Cheap Thrills – a series of musical fiestas that welcomes fans of all ages.

Join both young and old this Saturday May 12, with this first event serving as a celebration of East Coast bands and music. Doors will open at 6:00 pm with DJ Amex and DJ Hot Flush kicking off the musical proceedings front of house.

From there the night will evolve into performances by local lads The Well Alrights and Gung Ho. Joining the stage a little later into the evening will be Newcastle band Kira Puru & the Bruise and Melbourne’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. To accompany the musical proceedings, photographic projections from Dane Beesley will also adorn the space.

Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $20 on the door. You can purchase these via the box office on 3872 9000 or [email protected]. And if the price wasn’t tempting enough, the Judith Wright Centre is also offering a free (yes, free) Hellhound hot dog with the first 100 pre-sold tickets.

While the event is open to those underage, attendees who are 18+ need not despair as there will be liquor available, as long as you have a valid ID on hand.
