This weekend, the Future Shorts Film Festival will travel to Brisbane for its Australia stint, bringing a program of award-winning short films from leading film festivals around the globe. Filmic endeavours from more than 20 countries are represented amongst the line-up, followed by the sounds of three local electronica musicians. The Human Rights Arts & Film Festival’s national tour is set to return to Brisbane Powerhouse, showcasing a small collection of fascinating films from around the world, centred on human strength and resilience. Featured films will include Rich Hill, a film following the struggles of three teenage boys dealing with poverty, broken families and mental illness; Everyday Rebellion, a documentary about using the body as a non-violent tool in protest; and Light Fly, Fly High, a film that follows the journey of a professional female boxer in India who faces her greatest battles outside the ring.
