The awards recognise the passion and dedication of each and every of the photographers featured. Subjects portrayed in the exhibition range quite dramatically, from daily life to sport and portraiture, exploring every human emotion. No matter the depicted story, each photograph manages to capture a powerful and instrumental moment in time. C Gallery migrates to Emporium, Fortitude Valley

C Gallery made quite a name for itself as a boutique gallery that embraces all forms of contemporary art. The space favoures Australian artists across all fields, from painting to sculpture, ceramic, glass homewares and even jewellery. While the gallery opened on James Street in 2010, it will shortly be migrating away to the cavernous stores that make up the stylish district of Emporium. The new premise will quite literally be even bigger and better than the original and will open its doors from January 25. This larger space will allow C Gallery to curate larger exhibitions and projects from the Australian art scene. It will be taking over the former space of boutique Camargue at Shop 1 of Emporium, providing enough space for the gallery to host even more public and private events in store.   more

Support four-legged friends with Fetched and Feathered

Brisbane boutique gallery The Box has embraced the season of giving, offering a helping hand to the state’s furry friends. Fetched and Feathered is a group exhibition of the works of seven emerging artists in support of Queensland’s Animal Welfare League (AWL). A theme of animals and nature was presented to each creative involved, summoning pieces in a range of mediums from photography and printmaking to drawing and jewellery. The artworks on display include those by Fleur Callaghan, Claudia Husband and Reuben Warburton. A 30% commission of the sales of these works will be donated to the league, with more donations from attendees welcomed at the event. To make the evening a touch more memorable, dogs are welcome to attend (albeit on leash) with special guests from the AWL shelters also making an appearance. @ The Box, December 16–20   more
