Chuckle and cringe at the brilliant mind and observations of David Sedaris

The last time David Sedaris was in town, he shared the story of his discovery of a lump on his right side – a lipoma, a harmless fatty tumour. While most people would be eager to see the back of that tumour once removed, David had other plans. He wanted to feed it to a specific snapping turtle, one he had seen with a big growth on his head. It's a story audiences were sure to never forget, and you can bet there will be plenty more witty social critiques and obscure observations when David returns to Brisbane City Hall on Wednesday January 24. more

Real talk – we all know a wine wanker. Whether it’s one of your close mates (sucks to be you) or a mouthy friend-of-a-friend, these insufferable souls are the sort of people who kind of make you want to punch them. Why is it that experts in this field tend to come with an almost guaranteed air of arrogance? Don’t give up hope just yet, friends – The Wine Bluffs are headed to the Brisbane Powerhouse from November 16–18 and they’re here to school you on all things grape, minus the pretence and with an added dose of belly laughs. Prepare for gut-busting, knee-slapping fringe comedy with the return of Bris Funny Fest

Comedy is a funny old thing, not just in the ‘ha-ha’ sense but also in the sense that what makes you cackle with sheer delight might make another person feel like they’ve just been forced to watch their parents make out. Unless you’re like the mayor from Footloose and thus have some kind of aversion to joy in general, we have news that will no doubt put a smile on your dial – the Bris Funny Fest is back, fam! Heading to the Brisbane Powerhouse from July 7-16, Joh for PM will have you roaring with laughter about something that definitely wasn’t funny at the time. more
