Knowing you are getting the freshest produce direct from the farmer is the best part about going to the markets.

At the new Calamvale Farmers Market you can be assured that the vendors are either the hard-working farmer of the produce or have specifically sourced directly from the grower. Your produce is truly fresh and local, and you can get direct appreciation of where and how the produce is grown and sourced. Calamvale Farmers Market offers everything from the usual fruit and vegetables to aquaponically grown produce, organic honey and bread as well as New Zealand-sourced seafood. The vendors pride themselves on the quality of what they are offering.

If you have built up an appetite filling your basket with fresh produce, then there is a great range of hot and cold food stalls and drinks that will replenish your energy. Sufficiently refuelled you can continue your shopping, browsing the large range of handmade products including jewellery, baby and children’s clothing, and crafts. Just a few of the stalls attending this weekend’s launch are The Lovely Little Cakery, Jamberry, Naturally Nerine’s, Two Brews BrewingMonkey and Bear DesignsBačka Gourmet FoodsPixie Mik DesignsNorwex and Harmony Hampers. Visit the beauty services area and indulge in a reiki session or massage, or even have your brows threaded.

Whilst animals are not permitted on site, this market doesn’t forget them, with a range of stalls selling clothing and treats for your furry friends. If you have kids in tow, they should keep an eye out for the roving magician and various children’s activities. The launch Sunday January 31 will see Councillor Angela Owen-Taylor conducting the official opening with more than 70 different vendors, and the markets will operate each Sunday from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, rain or shine.
