A Shakespearean tragedy gets one hot take in La Boite’s sizzling production CAESAR

Shakespeare’s account of the Roman general’s murder by his friend Brutus, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, is a meditation on friendship, duty and betrayal. The psychological drama was first performed in 1599 and has been adapted many a time – from Orson Welles’ 1937 version to Broadway shows and even on the big screen with Marlon Brando. Now, a talented troupe from La Boite Theatre is taking on the iconic play and making it their own. Playing at La Boite from July 23 to August 7, CAESAR is one electrifying theatrical experience you can’t miss.

Everything is not what it seems in La Boite’s sharp and playful production CAESAR, where the story of Julius Caesar is turned on its head in the hands of five female-identifying and non-binary playwrights. Adapted with a modern script soaked in satire, CAESAR stars a powerful cast of Queensland actors including Chenoa Deemal, Billy Fogarty, Giema Contini, Bryan Probets and Will Carseldine. Over five acts (and a whole lot of gasps and laughs), the wickedly talented cast will tackle power, politics, fake news, corruption and much more.

While you’re enjoying all of the drama, double up on decadence and secure one of La Boite’s VIP packages. These pretty packages are full to the brim with cocktails, gourmet cheese platters, bottles of wine and private booths to lounge in – because what’s a night out on the town without a few sips and snacks? Pop over to La Boite’s website to learn more about these luxe packages or hop over here to book your tickets to the riveting reimagining of CAESAR.
