Brisbane Writers Festival boasts something for everyone

Yesterday marked the commencement of one Brisbane’s wordiest events, but there is so much more to the Brisbane Writers Festival than meets the eye.

The Brisbane Writers Festival is running a series of free events and is inviting all comers to come and experience the festival – sometimes without having to leave their own suburb. Free masterclass workshops are available, including poetry with Andy Jackson, the creativity behind a novel with Sjón and how to turn your story into a page-turner with Susan Johnson. Sit in on Q&A sessions with Richard Glover, Anne Buist, Dave Warner, Robert Gott and mother and daughter duo Lesley and Tammy Williams. Also available are a series of free author events at local libraries for BWF in the ‘Burbs!

The Univeristy of Queensland will be hosting a collection of lectures featuring several high-profile speakers such as John Ronson, Peter Doherty, Kelly Link, Kate Grenville and Antony Beevor. Kids can also get involved in the festivities by participating in activities as part of Word Play program, including the daily activities at Alphabet Zoo and Love Ya! Head to the Brisbane Writers Festival website to view the full program.
