Cycle in style at the Brisbane Tweed Ride

Recreate the bygone era of elegant British cycling at the Brisbane Tweed Ride this weekend. Promoting a cycle style that leaves the lycra buried at the back of a drawer at home, the Brisbane Tweed Ride instead encourages dressing in fine garments, particularly of the tweed variety.

Classically attired ladies in capes and gloves will ride their vintage-inspired two-wheeled steeds alongside dapper gents with tweed casquettes atop their crowns. Starting from Musgrave Park in West End at 2:00 pm this Sunday, the spring edition of the Tweed Ride will leisurely coast through our splendid inner city, concluding at Orleigh Park. Pitstops along the way will cater to those who did not pack their wicker baskets with picnic goodies ahead of time for a BYO spread post ride.

Local bands The Good Ship and The Mouldy Lovers will provide the live tunes, while you kick off your oxfords and heels for a relaxing dusk of food, drinks and cycle good times. There’ll even be prizes for the ‘Most Snappy Lass’, ‘Most Dapper Chap’ and ‘Most Stylish Vintage Steed’, so ensure you and your bicycle are looking smart for a stylish afternoon saunter.
