Dress to impress for the Brisbane Style Over Speed Ride

Dress to impress for the Brisbane Style Over Speed Ride

Make like the dames and dandies of the past, coasting about from A to B with an unhurried air, dressed in your finest wears from (helmeted) head to brogue-covered toe.

Sparking the idea that bicycling can be a fashionable form of transport is the Brisbane Style Over Speed Ride being held this Friday May 25. Pushing lycra sportswear and mountain bikes aside, this event encourages ladies to dress in whimsical outfits with socks and heels (it’s almost winter, remember) and lads in tweed waistcoats and ties, and glide along gracefully atop a Jube Customs dragster or balloon-tired Velorbis Victoria.

Commencing at King George Square at 5:30 pm, cycle chic enthusiasts will slowly mosey over to Five Sisters Art House Cafe in Fish Lane, South Brisbane for an evening espresso and spoke-filled conversation. Riding back to Brew in Burnett Lane, this mobile event concludes at the Blank Canvas local artist showing of live painting from 7:30 pm, with the nice folk at Brew reserving some valuable astroturfed space for your precious two-wheels. Prettying up the cycle scene on Brisbane streets, the Brisbane Style Over Speed Ride is part of U.R{BNE} Festival, dreaming up creative ideas to enliven our public spaces.
