Swing into summer in fine form at the Brisbane International

There are certain things that personify a Queensland summer – fresh mangoes, ice-cold beer and of course, a cheeky spot of tennis. The Brisbane International returns to the Queensland Tennis Centre from January 1–8 in 2017 to thrill audiences with a host of international talent and off-court entertainment, making for a perfect start to the New Year.

For those who don’t know, the Brisbane International is a men’s and women’s tournament that pretty much opens up the Australian Open series for the year. This is the first of the key lead-in tournaments to the first Grand Slam of the season, so it’s a pretty big deal. The 2017 roster is overflowing with talent, including no fewer than six Grand Slam champions headlining – five of the world’s top ten men and women each will be vying for the crown. Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Angelique Kerber, Garbine Muguruza, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Sam Stosur are amongst the superstar line up.

The Brisbane International is pulling out all the stops to make sure 2017’s edition is the best yet for fans, introducing a little something called The Racquet Club. Formerly known as Tennis Central, this new addition gives punters the chance to get all up in the Queensland Tennis Centre’s grill – nothing is left unexplored! Show Court One is also getting a shake-up, transforming into a temporary second stadium where world-class action will be on offer to all ticket holders – including those with a ground pass.  As one last treat, the Free After Five initiative sees The Racquet Club area opening to the public for – you guessed it – free after 5:00 pm to enjoy food stalls, live music and happening bars. There’s even an outdoor cinema screen so not one minute of action from inside the arena will be missed.

There is still a range of tickets available for various days across the Brisbane International – check out Ticketek to see what’s on offer.
