Cinephiles, your time has come – the dates have dropped and we’ve been given a couple of irresistible samples, but now the Brisbane International Film Festival is well and truly ready to go. A massive program announcement and ticket release have just taken place, so it’s time to start saving those dates and locking in spots at the most coveted events before they sell out.
The Brisbane International Film Festival has long since been a favourite on the cultural calendar, thanks in large part to its rich and carefully curated program. This year’s stunning showcase of films will be accompanied by 24 thought-provoking events, with something for all ages and demographics – from conversations to panel discussions and even live music with film, organisers have gone all out to ensure the festival reaches beyond the screen.
This year’s Brisbane International Film Festival is playing host to some seriously exciting premiere events, meaning you can catch anticipated flicks before their wide release. BIFF has nabbed the Australian premieres of award-winning Korean auteur Hong Sang-soo’s Hotel by the River, the legendary Lars Von Trier’s The House That Jack Built and the Queensland premiere of Leave No Trace by Oscar-nominated American director Debra Granik. Event highlights from the festival include the unique virtual reality and performance experience Frogman, a free YouTube Creator Day for Filmmakers hosted by online video experts Changer Studios, the multitude of in-conversation events that BIFF 2018 Festival Patron Bruce Beresford is hosting, plus many more.
