Brisbane Ice Cream Festival returns to West Village with frosty treats aplenty

Calling all ice-cream addicts! All of our frosty dreams have come true – the Brisbane Ice Cream Festival is returning for its fifth year from Saturday March 26 to Saturday April 9. Presented by West Village, this annual dessert fiesta will once again take over the historic Peters Ice Cream Factory on Boundary Street for more than two weeks of jam-packed events dedicated to all things sweet, creamy and frozen.

I scream, you scream … good lord, why are we all screaming? Oh yes, that’s right. It’s because the Brisbane Ice Cream Festival is coming back to West Village this month. As always, there will be pop-up stalls from some of Brisbane’s coolest dessert masters, doling out lick-worthy ice-cream, gelato, popsicles and everything in between. Ice-cream seekers can pop into West Village daily for the festival’s Ice Cream All Day and All Night offering, which will feature a host of sweet specials available throughout the whole festival. On March 26–27, the Brisbane Ice Cream Festival will hold its sold-out Sundae Funday celebrations (which if you happened to snag a ticket to, well done!) where little ones can take part in some cool and crafty activities before enjoying a complimentary scoop of gelato from West Village’s own Anita Gelato.

From ice-cream sandwiches to lip-smacking spiders, some of your old-school favourites from past festivals will be returning as part of the Ice Cream All Weekend mini festival from April 2–3. Sweet-tooths will be able to indulge in Ungermann Brothers gourmet ice-cream burgers and shakes or get rollin’ with Roll It Ice Cream Co’s famous confection creations. Saturday April 9 will see the return of Chef’s Playground, where an assortment of creative culinary minds will team up to craft a dreamy degustation featuring sweet and savoury interpretations of iconic desserts. Phillip Johnson from e’cco Bistro, William Wallace and Matt Golinski will be lending their talents to the inventive and experimental outing, so you know it’s going to be extra special. Diners can expect to dig in to dishes like kingfish ceviche with avocado, finger lime and chilli sorbet and native mint, mushroom sorbet with hazelnut praline, salted caramel and red-vein sorrel, and roasted pork belly with apple and fennel sorbet, pink lady apple, pickled ginger and chives. Be sure to snag a ticket as numbers are limited!

As the sprinkles on top, Brisbane Ice Cream Festival accommodates dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free and vegan dietary requirements – as ice-cream should be enjoyed by all!

Tickets for this year’s Brisbane Ice Cream Festival are available to nab now via the festival’s website
