Fireworks, finches and flavourful fare – how to celebrate Brisbane Festival at Eagle Street Pier

Get excited, frolickers! Brisbane Festival is coming into its final weeks and there’s no better place to celebrate than waterfront entertainment and dining destination Eagle Street Pier. With roving entertainment, giant inflatable installations and some of the best spots to lap up this year’s Riverfire, where else would you rather be?

From September 3–25, Brisbane Festival is injecting a whole lot of fun into Eagle Street Pier. The three-week long fiesta has brought Florentijn Hofman’s installation Messengers of Brisbane to the riverside precinct, with a giant Gouldian Finch conspicuously nesting high above the the sizzling selection of eateries. Gargantuan feathered friends aren’t the only things flying around, with roving performances like fire twirling, neon acts, juggling and more coming to the pier across multiple festival dates. The grand finale comes in the form of – drumroll, please – Sunsuper Riverfire, which will return on Saturday September 25 to wrap up Brisbane Festival. One of the most electrifying displays in Australia, the firework spectacular will light up the sky from multiple bridges, barges and city rooftops – Eagle Street Pier is undoubtedly one the best spots in town to experience the breathtaking showcase.

To level up your Riverfire experience, there’s plenty of places to feast while you await the exciting pyrotechnic display. You can tantalise your tastebuds with a seven-course banquet at Naga Thai, enjoy a three-course Italian feast at COPPA, indulge in sparkling sips and sensational snacks at Mr & Mrs G Riverbar and take in a tempting three-course menu at George’s Paragon. A breezy riverside dinner awaits at Rico Bar & Dining, delicious German-inspired dishes and killer views abound at The Bavarian, and salivation-worthy Japanese bites will be plated up at Saké Restaurant & BarIf you’re eager to book in dinner before the show, we suggest having a gander at the Eagle Street Pier website for all of the mouth-watering options.
