Brisbane City Council has turned off all of the city’s parking meters for the rest of March

Free parking. We repeat, FREE PARKING! Yes, the rumours are true. In a move that can only be described as heroic, Brisbane City Council has turned off all of its on-street metered parking spaces. Into the city, we drive! But first, here are all of the need-to-know deets …

In absolutely stunning news, Brisbane City Council has decided to extend its free parking for all on-street metered parking spaces for the rest of March. Yep, that means no paid parking across all of Council’s 7869 metered parking spaces in The City and the inner suburbs. Although parking is now free, time restrictions still apply and will be enforced, so don’t go getting fined for parking over the time limit.

The free parking initiative is Council’s way of helping attract locals back into The City to help bolster local businesses and ease employees’ transition back to the workplace (especially so after the recent floods). So strap in, set the GPS to find your best route and let’s rediscover our brilliant city – with a few more coins in our pockets, to boot!
