Get cosy under the stars at the Brisbane Backyard Film Festival

One of the most beloved events for local film buffs and moviemakers alike returns for 2016, screening some great independent work over one memorable evening.

Once a year, local filmmakers are put to the fore in what is one of the more creative cultural events on the film festival calendar. The Brisbane Backyard Film Festival is a showcase of local content in the realms of short films, documentaries, music videos and movie trailers from across Queensland. On Friday May 27, patrons will gather and get comfortable under fairy lights and underneath blankets to see the year’s best selections screened throughout the evening.

Each film is under 20 minutes in length, with eight films selected for the major part of the event. Up to eight music videos and eight trailers will also be selected, though they are not up for judging or prizes. This is an all-ages event, and guests over the age of 18 are welcome to BYO drinks. Food will be provided by some of the best local food trucks, and attendees are welcome to linger after the screenings for drinks and networking opportunities. Purchase your tickets, grab some cinephile friends, a few rugs and blankets and a picnic hamper and join in the fun and witness some of the best local film work come alive under the night sky.
