Homegrown acts and internationally acclaimed artists have joined forces for BrisAsia’s Rare Voices concert

BrisAsia Festival, the annual cultural event that celebrates Asian and intercultural arts, cuisine, culture and philosophy, is once again taking over Brisbane this February. To celebrate the diverse voices and multiculturalism that make our city great, a bounty of gifted local vocalists and instrumentalists are coming together for one massive concert at SunPAC on Saturday February 20 – and to top it off, it’s completely free! Here’s what you can expect at Rare Voices …

Gather your mates and make way to Sunnybank – the Rare Voices concert is set to get your body grooving and your heart singing. The jam-packed gig will showcase a treasure chest of musical talent matched with stories from across the Asian region told by some of Queensland’s best and brightest. Boasting a rich program of traditional and world music, the colourful event will take concert-goers on a journey across the ocean through tunes, melodies and soundscapes that reflect on the cultural histories of Brisbane’s diverse communities.

Internationally renowned Carnatic singer Charulatha Mani and Chinese folk singer Zi Wang will be headlining the evening, alongside a starry selection of renowned local artists and instrumentalists. The event will also showcase some fresh-faced homegrown talent as a part of its Emerging Artist initiative, which is designed to engage with southside multicultural communities and present a platform for new voices to be heard. To book your free ticket to the Rare Voices concert (spots are limited!), head here.
