Froth your chops over the best beers from Brisbane and beyond at Brewsvegas
We might as well get straight to the facts – the craft beer scene in Brisbane is second to none. From our local watering holes to our abundance of boutique breweries, we are never lacking for a world-class brew, and nobody knows this more than the gang from Brewsvegas. From March 10–19, this hop-heavy festival will take over more than 50 venues all across Brisbane to celebrate local beer culture with everything from dart competitions and street parties to cook-offs and art collaborations.
In the four years that it’s been kicking around, the Brewsvegas concept has continued to evolve and grow along with the city it calls home. As the craft brewing scene is thriving like never before (with no signs of slowing down, mind you), Brewsvegas has expanded its operations to include a range of events, activities, tastings and dinners centred on quality local beer. Within the program’s offering there are four distinct categories to help punters navigate the malty waters of the festival – beer loves food, beer loves culture, beer loves passion and beer loves everyone. These tags make it easy to scope what certain events are all about, whether you’re a die-hard beer nerd or a bit of a rookie.
Although the Froth Whitlams take centre stage, Brewsvegas isn’t just about everyone’s favourite frosty beverage – amongst South American street parties at All Inn and Gypsypaloozas at Hoo Ha Bar, you can mash up art and beer at Aether Brewing or even indulge in some golf’n’brews at Barcadia. This year also marks the first time that Pint of Origin will be going down at the festival, with the simple premise of venues representing a particular state’s breweries for the duration of Brewsvegas. Bloodhound will be holding it down for Queensland, with the likes of Brewski, Fitz + Potts, The Mill and more backing other turfs. Those with furry friends are also well catered to – there are several dedicated dog-centric events popping up over the festival.
