Catch all of the after-dark action at Botanica Live Nights

Next month, Brisbane will be soaked in a rainbow of colour thanks to Botanica – Contemporary Art Outside, which is coming to City Botanic Gardens from May 7–16. As the sun sets over the city skyline, this open-air exhibition will light up the park with a plethora of colourful projections and immersive installations. Upping the ante will be Botanica Live Nights, an after-dusk fiesta full of twilight tours, live beats, food trucks and even a pop-up bar.

Weekends in May are about to get a whole lot more exciting with the arrival of Botanica Live Nights, the nocturnal offspring of Botanica – Contemporary Art Outside. Happening every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening throughout the festival, Botanica Live Nights will allow event-goers to spend more time exploring the artworks and discovering the beauty of the gardens – night-vision goggles not needed. To help you delve a little deeper, there will be guided after-dark tours of the exhibition, and even the opportunity to meet some of the Botanica artists who will share more about their inspirations and practice.

The fun doesn’t stop there – these jam-packed nights will see DJs providing a bangin’ soundtrack, food trucks slinging salivation-inducing eats and a pop-up bar so you can get your cocktail fix (it would be rude to not cheers to the weekend, after all). If you’re keen to really relax in the lush surroundings of the park, pack a picnic rug and order a picnic pack from The Gardens Club (these tasty delights need to be ordered 48 hours in advance), which are loaded with gourmet cheeses, fresh deli meats, house-made dips, pickles, olives, crackers and a selection of sweets. Sounds like the perfect date night to us.
