Explosive documentary Bomb It comes to BEMAC
Award-winning director Jon Reiss investigates the internationally controversial art of graffiti in his film, Bomb It.
Screening at Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC) on Thursday November 21, Bomb It will present interviews and guerrilla footage featuring graffiti writers from five continents. Beginning with graffiti’s origins in prehistoric cave paintings and following the art form to its explosion in New York City during the 1970s, the film will then lead its audience to today’s visual landscapes.
Bomb It was filmed in such locations as Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tijuana, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Hamburg, Berlin, Cape Town and Tokyo – taking its viewers on a colourful visual journey around the world. The stories and interviews behind the artworks will encourage moviegoers to question the controversy and outlawed nature of the age-old art form. The film will commence at 7:00 pm and tickets are $5.
