Gasp at awe-inspiring dance at EDC’s Black triple bill

When some of China’s most talented dancers join forces with Queensland’s acclaimed ensemble from Expressions Dance Company, you know you’re in for a real treat.

From February 12–20, QPAC will play host to a selection of the world’s best dancers when it presents Black – a triple bill. Combining the talent of some of China’s most captivating contemporary dancers from the Quangdong Modern Dance Company and the impressive ensemble from Queensland’s own Expressions Dance Company, the achingly beautiful performance will feature a trio of short works from three leading choreographers: Natalie Weir (EDC), Liu Qi (China) and Xing Liang (Hong Kong).

The first exhilarating piece, Sumeru, explores gravity, energy and temperature, all of which organically guide the movement of the body. Don’t delves into the emotional power of words, while Black incorporates materials and textures to portray the ineffable charm of black. A showcase of stunning artistry and enviable physicality, Black – a triple bill is not only a feast for the ears and eyes, but a celebration of our Chinese-Australian cultural connection. QPAC is located in prime position for a delicious meal before or after the show – we suggest trying Harajuku Gyoza, The Spaghetti House Trattoria, Hope & Pickle or The Jetty.
