Homegrown heavy-hitters and inspirational icons – the BIGSOUND conference highlights to tune into

The brilliant minds behind one of Australia’s most beloved music events, BIGSOUND, have pulled out all of the stops to line up some spectacular talent for this year’s festivities. BIGSOUND’s completely digital conference program is an extravaganza of homegrown music legends and pop-culture prodigies ready to share everything from their insights into the industry and their rich careers to the very strange state of the world. It’s going to be bonanzas.

For the first time in its 18-year history BIGSOUND is going virtual, and the festival’s programmers have masterminded a killer conference line-up that is sure to impress music lovers. First up on the platter of homegrown musical goodness is global superstar Tones And I, who will delve into her life from busking to the big leagues as well as giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look into her debut album. In a tasty turn, content creator and hilarious isolation cooking champion Nat (from popular YouTube series Nat’s What I Reckon) will be putting on the chef’s hat for the BIGSOUND cooking show. In this tantalising tutorial, Nat will cook up a storm whilst chewing the fat on a few important issues – let’s just say more than a few laughs are guaranteed.

The line-up continues to dazzle with master guitarist and OG member of Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello, who is set to discuss everything from music and activism to the absolute dumpster-fire of a year that is 2020 in his keynote presentation ‘Whatever It Takes’. Talking about absolute legends, celebrated Indigenous singer-songwriter and all-round nice guy, Kev Carmody will join BIGSOUND’s First Nations Producer, Alethea Beetson to chat how his tunes continue to reach and inspire new listeners, paving the way for Indigenous storytelling through music. Rounding out the roster of talent is singer-songwriter and Gold Coast gal Amy Shark, who will sit down for a chat with Australian media favourite Linda Marigliano to give an inside scoop into her forthcoming album and her musical process.
