Clash of creatives at BIGSOUND 2012
Take a step into Wonderland, albeit the musical kind, when BIGSOUND rolls around again. From September 12–14, Fortitude Valley will transform into a clubhouse for some of Queensland’s (and the nation’s) most influential and inspiring members of the industry.
Now in its 11th year, BIGSOUND is a melting pot of musical enterprise. The three-day event runs all day and all night, combining conference, debate, discussion and plenty of live music into one festival. Ultimately, BIGSOUND’s purpose is to spark a little conservation about the industry, encouraging the spread of information from one artist to the next. It will also be the setting for a musical showcase of some of the nation’s brightest and most talented young things.
From 10:00 am each day, the conference will commence, giving you the opportunity to fill your day with a little education or, more accurately, fill every nook and cranny of your brain with a stream of musical discussion, information, advice and inspiration. This year’s conference includes a heady list of impressive guest speakers, including the Big Day Out’s Ken West, Triple J Unearthed’s Dave Ruby Howe, musician Clare Bowditch, EMI Music’s Scott Horscroft and Soundcloud’s David Adams.
At around 5:00 pm, after your day of learning is done, you can get ready to dance the night away. For the festival, a slew of Fortitude Valley music venues and outdoor stages will be overtaken by more than 120 artists. This year’s line-up includes Ball Park Music, Oliver Tank, The Beards, Loon Lake and The Jungle Giants. Tickets for the event are $69, and can be purchased online.
