Introduce the kids to the magic of set design at the Museum of Brisbane

From the stage to the silver screen, a theatrical production wouldn’t be complete without a set to perform in. This workshop will teach kids the importance of set design and how a little bit of imagination can make such a big impact.

Some of the greatest movies and stage shows ever produced have been sprawling tales set in wondrous locations. While a healthy dose of imagination is always handy when taking in any work of fiction, a great set design helps build the illusion and set the mood. Imagine what Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter would be without top-notch sets and you can see the significance.

Bigger than Ben-Hur: Make your own movie set is a hands on workshop for kids to help them learn the importance of setting the scene in story telling. On January 8 from 10 am to 1 pm, the little ones will be taught how to build a room or a whole city using craft materials. This workshop is free, with all materials provided. There is no need to book – simply show up with a little bit of imagination and see what can be created.
