The Blue Hour, 2high Festival

Backbone 2high Festival kicks off with The Blue Hour

Talented newcomers from across the nation will come together at Brisbane Powerhouse on November 10 for the annual Backbone 2high Festival. In its 19th year, Backbone 2high Festival is a multi-arts experience supporting young and emerging artists and art producers.

Local musos The Belligerents, Argentina, The Mouldy Lovers and Fairchild Republic are amongst the line-up of eclectic and experimental sounds to be showcased at the festival, while video production, sculpture, installation and live art are amongst the exhibition mediums. A mesh of performance, music and exhibitions, 2high Festival is the creation of Queensland’s premier youth arts company Backbone, who guides a team of emerging arts coordinators to conceive the festival each year.

New additions to the festival include Program X – a platform for digital moving image artists to provide a visual accompaniment to live music performances – and The Studio, which will unveil the artistic process behind the art on display.

Pre-festival event The Blue Hour will kick things off at The Box this Saturday October 13 from 6:30 pm, giving the audience and artists the chance to mingle and revel in a taste of what is to come. Expect music from indie young guns and DJs alongside physical comedy and circus performance, with proceeds going towards supporting the 2high artists and making this not-for-profit festival the best it can be. Pre-sale tickets available here.
